METHANE . . . WHAT A GAS!

by Hugh Avery

Methane . . . What a Gas! is an essential, easy to read reference that describes the wide ranging sources of methane, the universal behaviors of methane gas and natural gas, and their impacts. There is also an extensive study of contemporary methane gas mitigation codes and regulations.

Hugh Avery began working in methane gas mitigation in the late 1980s. At the time, there was national concern over radon radiation, and in Los Angeles there was a particular concern over methane gas leaking from the many oil fields within the city limits. In cooperation with the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) a testing protocol was developed for soil gas barrier membranes. In 1990 Hugh became the first registered methane-barrier-inspector in the City of Los Angeles and is still a consultant in methane gas mitigation
